As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion. To be properly disposed to receive Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour.
Parishioners and visitors to St. Maria Goretti are encouraged to receive the Eucharist devoutly and frequently. The Eucharist is offered at all St. Maria Goretti masses.
If you or a family member are ill or otherwise homebound and cannot attend Mass to receive communion, please call the office at
(916) 647-4538 to arrange for the Eucharist to be brought to you by our Ministry to the Sick and Homebound.
Children are prepared for First Holy Communion (or Eucharist), as part of Catholic Faith Formation (CFF) classes. Learn more about CFF in Faith Formation tab.
Teens over 15 and adults, who have been baptized but have not received First Holy Communion, are encouraged to prepare for this Sacrament through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adult) and RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children). Learn more about the RCIA program in Faith Formation tab.
