Is to provide compassionate and loving assistance; practical support, in a confidential manner, to those who grieve the loss of a loved one through death. We reach out through the entire grieving process, so they will feel the healing comfort of God through this faith community.
“Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (Mt 5:4)
Goal
That each parishioner or bereaved family who has experienced the death of a loved one, will feel the love and support of the members of the bereavement ministry and also the prayers of the entire parish community.
Services:
Pray for the deceased and the family of the deceased
Send a Mass card or sympathy card to the next of kin
Help with Funeral Arrangements
Help prepare the Funeral Liturgy
Be present at the Viewing and/or Mass
Follow up call or visit
Be responsible for the All Soul's Day Liturgy remembering especially those who died during the previous year
Have resources available for the grief counseling and location of Support groups
Offer a support ministry here at the Parish
Last but not the least - Be a Ministry of Presence (listening ear and caring presence)
